Mikro and I are very committed to learning about the Hudson River and celebrating the Quadricentennial of Henry Hudson's 1609 voyage up river. We were thrilled to receive a new book about it, by local artist and writer Ann Palm Reibel.
How Pearl Discovered Henry Hudson's Shoe is a sweet picture book which frames the history of Hudson's voyage within a tale of a little girl's discovery of an old shoe at a museum, which she and her curator grandfather manage to trace to Henry Hudson. Pearl has fun learning about history with her grandpa, who teaches her about the stories that artifacts tell. At the end of the story, there are several pages of Hudson River facts and trivia. The book is available from author/illustrator Ann Palm Reibel and should soon be available from amazon.com.
