Harbor Day: Holland on the Hudson

Around here, it's all Quadricentennial, all the time! We went to Bowling Green to see a Dutch village, with food, music and artwork from the Netherlands.









We read the Netherlands Monument, about the founding of New Amsterdam.



We toured the National Museum of the American Indian, and talked about what the coming of the Dutch and other Europeans meant for native peoples. (That's a separate post, as soon as I can edit some of the hundreds of photos..)

Then, we walked over to Battery Park for Harbor Day, and watched the Dutch fleet sail by.









And we even managed to sneak in some nature study, watching cormorants diving.
