First Quarter Highlights: World Maker Faire 2013
Maker Faire was September 21 and 22nd. Somehow I forgot to post about it, so I'm doing it now. Mikro had an incredible time. He took two workshops offered by Cognizant, one on Hacking a Toy (where he took apart a remote control for a RC car and learned how to change the controls to make it do different things than what it does coming out of the box) and one on building Solar Lanterns. We attended lectures on topics including Raspberry Pi microcontrollers, citizen science EEG devices, brain hacking, citizen science projects using weather balloons for aerial photography, the history of the New York Worlds Fairs and similarities with Maker Faire, and Making and Inspiring Science with Science Bob (with fun experiments!) Mikro also built and fired off an air pressure rocket, made a button, and built a duct tape rocket in the crafts area, where I made myself a duct tape wallet (and buttons, too.) We walked around the 3D printer village and saw what the latest developments are on that front, and Kev and Mikro are inspired to design more stuff to print, and to finish building their 3D printer kit.
