A Paleontologist's Dream Auction Preview

bonhamsbanner

Recently, we had an amazing (and free) opportunity to go see some truly unique fossils. Bonham's auction house was offering up for sale the Montana fighting dinosaurs and other prehistoric items, and before the auction, they had preview hours which were open to the public. Unlike in museums, the priceless artifacts were, for the most part, not behind glass, and you could get a great view of them. Being allowed access to this was a true privilege.

Mikro's favorite fossils were the tenontosaurus and the "incomparable ornithopod" mounted skeletons, which were in amazing condition. I have to say my favorite was 200 Fish Palm Frond. I could stare at that all day, every day and still find it an amazing work of art, as well as an incredible artifact. Kevin's favorite was Russell, the T Rex.

In the atrium next door, there were a mounted Tyrannosaurus Rex and a Triceratops Horridus, as well as the plaster encased pieces of the Dueling Dinosaurs (a ceratopsian and a nanotyrannus), and many other fossils in display cases.
