Reading with...

Carmen! At Mulberry Street Library.

Our book group read "The Giving Tree", talked about gifts and friendhip, and made a giving tree craft and friendship bracelets.

Carmen did an awesome job reading the story to the other kids, Her mom later told me she was nervous, but you would never have known it. Kudos!

Afterwards, Mikro and I hung out at the library and read a book about the Periodic Table and the Nate the Great Halloween book. A fun day!

Reading With...

Our homeschool group kicked off a new book club with a reading of Eric Carle's Very Hungry Caterpillar by the awesome 8 year old Z. The idea is for the older kids who are reading to gain confidence and inspire the littler ones by reading aloud to them. It was a great event. After Z's reading, his mom and T, our group's cool and creative leader, had several fun activities planned for us. There were caterpillars and butterflies to make and to color, origami, butterfly pins for the kids, and even milkweed seeds to plant to attract monarchs.

We had a wonderful time! Mikro is really excited about book group and wants to do a reading sometime soon.

And afterwards, the library where we meet had a special event, at which the kids got to hear a reading of the book on which the PBS Kids series "Martha Speaks" is based, watch an episode, meet a real therapy dog, and do crafts.
