Back from Vacation

We are back from our cabin camping adventure.

Mikro had a great time hiking, playing frisbee, swimming, star gazing, beachcombing, finding our first ever geocache, playing board games, licking up GFCF brownie batter, making crafts and just generally enjoying having both parents around all day.

Day 1:

Bonus: He learned to slurp spaghetti!

Day Two:

Lots of critters to watch:

And a bit of military history flew overhead:

B-17:

B-24:

Back at the cabin, there were board games and Borg games (actually, it's the eyepiece for a remote controlled tank with built in camera).

Day 3:
My good friend Vicky and her family came up for some beachcombing and a barbeque. We had amazing food, even for the vegetarians. Grilled veggies, shishkebab, polenta, corn on the cob, sweet potatoes and garlic bread. Mmmmmm! And the carnivores had chicken and steak. Mikey reluctantly tried the polenta and did not hate it.

Day 4:
Beachcombing on the public beach. Found a message in a bubble (one of those prize containers from vending machines). Swimming in the river. Hiking (bushwhacking, really) to South Beach. More sunset.

Day 5:
Geocaching. We had so much fun and found the cache. More board games.

Day Six:
Flying the freak flag (or at least tie dying it). We made Tshirts, socks, underwear, and a bunch of dyed paper.

Last sunset, on the beach:

Day 7:

Negatives: The two days Kevin's office called and he had to go home at least part of the day to work. The fact that I got eaten alive and had a really nasty histamine reaction to the bug bites. Which I could go on about, but I won't.

Over all, though, I am glad we had the time together as a family, away from the distractions of the computer and the TV, and that we had great weather!
