Not Back to School

Today Mikro and I had ourselves a little Not Back to School celebration at our beautiful local park along the Hudson River, as the public school kids in our village started their new school year. We homeschool year round, and our paperwork cycle starts in July, so it isn't really the start of anything in particular for us (except being able to yard school without the distraction of the vacationing school kids wanting to play while we are learning outdoors...)

We had chocolate italian ice, and a picnic lunch (but we had dessert first!), found some cool insects, saw a Northern Flicker, a cardinal and a bird I don't know yet, did some math and grammar, and read books about jellyfish and sea anemones. Mikro is on a marine biology kick at the moment. Then we went to the playground.

All in all, it was a fun way to mark the beginning of the fall.
