Brooklyn Museum of Art-- Ancient Egypt

Our homeschool group enjoyed a program on the art of Ancient Egypt at the Brooklyn Museum. The kids looked at stautuary, reliefs, a mummy and funerary equipment, and learned about the conventions of egyptian portraiture. Then they drew themselves in the egyptian style and wrote their names in hieroglyphs.





We had lunch together in the museum cafe, and then explored some more of the museum with a smaller group of friends. We went through the egyptian galleries at a more leisurely pace, then visited Judy Chicago's Dinner Party installation, and a few other exhibits along the way...
