Feeder Watch Count

We did our Feeder Watch count yesterday. Results may have been affected by yard guys doing leaf blowing down the block, and by higher than normal traffic...

Here's what we saw:

Thursday, 16 December 2010
Cloudy, 20 degrees F. Moderately windy.
1456-1557.

6 dark eyed juncos
10 house sparrows
2 song sparrows
2 american crows

Today was recycling day. I dragged back our plastic bottles. A months worth of bottles is a half tank of gas! Did the grocery shopping, to my regret, because it was the coup de grace for my bad back. I think I am going to spend most of this weekend lying on a heating pad and grumbling. Ah well, at least there's time for it to get better before the holidays...

I'm surprised you had that many sparrows while the leaf blowers were around. Maybe mine are more skittish. If I move at the window they all fly. :o)

I hope your back feels better soon!

Peace and Laughter,
Cristina

Thanks! I definitely overdid it today & pain is the price I pay for pretending to be superwoman... I *should* know better by now...

I seem to get fairly intrepid sparrows. There's a lot of hedge for them to pop into and hide, so they tend to stick around. I'm surprised not to see many chickadees or titmice so far. I usually get lots.
